“Sticks and stones may break my bones,
but words will never hurt me!”

Even as a child, you knew this
schoolyard taunt wasn’t true.
Words DO hurt!
Words like:  “You’re ugly.”, “You’re stupid!”,
or “You can’t do anything right!”, either
caused you to withdraw, turn inward and feel
bad about yourself, or to turn those feelings
outward and hurt others.
And when you heard “Good job!”, “You’re so
smart!”, or “I’m so proud of you” your happiness
and self-confidence soared!
Clearly, words have phenomenal impact. Just watch Alye’s video to the right.
As an adult in a young child’s life, you have tremendous power. Your words will either build their self esteem and confidence or destroy it.  You see, the words kids hear WILL shape who they become as teenagers – like Alye – and who they become as adults, for better or for worse.

That’s why I wrote The Magic Mirror and The Grandma Message – to give you the exact words you can use to uplift, encourage and make a profound positive impact on the young children in your life. As you read the words of this story to your son or daughter, your grandchild, a neighbor or a friend, you will be building the emotional muscle they need to thrive in this sometimes very hurtful world, a world where bullying is far too common.
I’ve worked in the personal development field for over 25 years and one thing I know for sure: When each of us see and believe in our own worth, we live joyous, thriving, positive lives! And when we don’t believe in our own value, we become sad, depressed, dysfunctional, are bullied or turn into bullies.
